Founding Charter for a Fezziwig Economy
Preamble
We, the members of the PEACH Community, reject the Late-Winter paradigm of financial exploitation, sterile mechanical labor, and the corporate extraction of local wealth. Returning to the enduring principles of human honor, neighborly solidarity, and structural fairness, we establish this Threefold Sandbox Ecosystem. Our goal is simple: to ensure that the wealth generated by local hands stays in local pockets, and that business remains a tool to serve human culture, not dominate it.
Article I: The Administrative Ledger (The Bookkeeper’s Law)
- The Time-Bank Anchor: The baseline unit of accounting within this sandbox is the Human Labor Hour. One hour of work (whether baking bread, cleaning floors, or practicing medicine) equals exactly one hour of community credit.
- The Ban on Usury: Under no circumstances shall money or time-bank credits within this sandbox generate interest (compound or simple). Financial speculation, short-selling, and predatory debt instruments are strictly prohibited.
- The Preservation of Capital: The primary metric of the treasury is not exponential growth, but long-term community durability. The ledger must protect the material security of the producers before calculating any outward distributions.
Article II: Separation of the Three Spheres (The Guardrails)
To prevent the corporate capture of society, the Sandbox is split into three strictly independent, self-governing branches:
- The Economic Sphere (Fraternité) — Consisting of our Worker-Owned Cooperatives (like the Four Winds Bakery) and Individual Merchants (like the Apothecary). They operate on the principle of associative cooperation, setting fair prices based on real human needs and operating costs, rather than hyper-competitive bidding.
- The Rights Sphere (Égalité) — Every participant in the Sandbox, regardless of their financial or labor contribution, possesses exactly one equal vote regarding workspace safety, community membership, and legal dispute resolutions. Capital cannot buy legal leverage.
- The Cultural Sphere (Liberté) — All educational, artistic, and philosophical endeavors within the community (like Tè Chay and Café Four Seasons) are completely autonomous. Neither the local businesses nor any administrative board may dictate curriculum, artistic expression, or creative freedom.
Article III: The Life Cycle of Wealth (The Purpose Trust)
- Steward-Ownership Required: Every enterprise operating under the PEACH banner must lock its corporate charter. Voting rights over the business belong exclusively to active, on-the-ground managers and workers. Voting stock cannot be sold, speculated on, or inherited by outside entities.
- The Capped Investor Rule: External capital or loans required to build infrastructure (like buying tools for the Swan Factory) receive a fair, fixed, and strictly capped return on investment. Once that cap is reached, the investor’s financial claim is legally extinguished.
- The Gift Mandate: All excess corporate profits generated beyond living wages and operational reserves cannot be hoarded. They must be legally accounted for as a Permanent Gift to the Cultural Trust to fund free education, community art, and local infrastructure maintenance.
Article IV: The Community Compact
We pledge to look our neighbors in the eye, to honor the labor of the hands that feed and clothe us, and to conduct all trade with absolute transparency. We build this model to make the old, extractive world obsolete.
Bookkeeper’s Rule
“This is our legal boundary fence. Your job isn’t to figure out how to maximize profit margins outside of this fence. Your job is to use your mathematical talent to make our businesses highly efficient, stable, and productive inside these rules.”
